    Are SKB

Any opinions about the SKB 585 12ga Combo? How much do they sell for? Looking for a good gun for the girl friend to shoot trap with.

    Thanks,
    Bruce

Some say yes, some no, your girlfriend may like a 1100 or 391 better. Jake

Have her shoot it before you buy it. It's the only way to find out if it is user friendly. HMB

Someone once told me SKB stands for Shit Keeps Breaking.

I'm with Jake, go for the 1100.

I bought an 585 combo many years ago and broke my first 100 with it the first time out. I think they are a good gun with a lot of bad vibe from people who never owned one.

All mechanical devices will in time break.

Some quicker then others! Never heard of bad thing about SKB's.

    I have about Rem. 1100.

So it boils down to, if it looks good to you, buy it and use it.

I bought a set of SKB/BSA in 1970 and never ever had any kind of a problem. I did shoot a lot of skeet with them. Jackie B.

THanks for all the info! We are also looking at BT99's as well. I have an XT and it is a little heavy for her.

    Thanks,
    Bruce

I bent an ejector, my own fault, that's the only problem I have had with my 85TSS, I would recommend an SKB, For a lady though I would look into an auto loader with an adjustable stock.

I own a 585 silver/gold field gun, a SKB 85tss sporting, and two 1100's.. I like them all and shoot them regularly. In my opinion SKB is 10 times the gun that the 1100's are. If light recoil is what you are after, then 1100 wins out, but my 85tss shoots 1 oz loads really softly too.

I'm almost certain the 85tss is a 585 receiver. I haven't had a single issue with either of my SKB's. Can't say the same about my 1100's.

Is $1400 a good price for one like new in box?

    Thanks,

Get a nice 303 Beretta or 1100 or BT 99. No one shoots an SKB very long.

I think they're very underrated guns.

I have owned a few SKBs and they were good guns for the money. Like any mechanical device parts can break just ask Perezzi shooters who carry around spare trigger assemblies. 1100s and 391s are good also. She if she can get to shoot a few guns and buy her what she likes.

I've had my 585 sporting clays 20, 28, .410 combo for a long time and 10's of thousands through it. Broke a firing pin once and had a new one in a couple of days. GU has a good supply of spare parts. Great gun.
