A very interesting story was shown on Channel 13, Rochester, New York last night, January 23, 2013.

Two male students at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) were sharing a residence while attending college.

Two persons broke into their place with a gun in hand. One of the students heard the break in and went and got out his legally owned AR-15 military style rifle (Channel 13 did not call it an assault rifle) and pointed it at the intruders.

The two intruders got scared and fled. No one was shot.

The Rochester Police Chief said that the two students were within their rights, that they were defending their property. He said that the AR-15 was legal and that he was happy that no one was hurt. The one student said that he was glad that he had his rifle.

This is second story on the news in Rochester about armed robbery at colleges. The first one happened at the University of Rochester where gunmen robbed students at gun point but no one was hurt. This happened just a short time ago.

I was really surprised that Channel 13 ran the story. It is good to see the media put a AR-15 in a good light.

    Good going RIT students.
