Just curious if anyone uses the windjammer style wad for handicap, personally think it holds a pretty tight pattern but have not tried them.

    Thanks

I use Down Range 8-Pedals Orange Wads all the time with 8 shot, from the 16 to the 24 with no problems. I have noticed if you use them from the 25 the breaks seem to get a little weak, still breaking them just not dusting them. So I load Down Range Versalites for the 25-27.

Was thinking of using them from the 22-24 yard line.

Windjammers only pattern well using a mix of 7 1/2 and 8s. They are best from 24 1/2 to 27. The best mix is 7/8 oz of 7 1/2 and 1/4 oz 8s. the 8s should be on top. Should really work great!

They shoot very well from the 27 and the pressures are lower then allot of others

Been using them for over 2 decades. Never a problem.
    1 1/8 of 7 1/2's, Clays, 2 3/4 dram. 27 yards.
A little slow, but they sure break targets when I do my part.

Windjammers is all I use for all distances. If I hit it right it will smoke them from the 27 yard line with my gun. Now your choke may differ. Ray

Windjammers are my wad of choice, why ? Good Patterns and softer shooting.

A 27-yard friend of mine has finished the target year with the highest handicap average in his state multiple times and uses only Windjammers or their clones.

Pick up a Windjammer out past the trap house some time and look it over. Notice how the legs of the wad have totally collapsed and pushed off to one side. And notice how that side has scrubbed the barrel. Good luck.

I should note that most those wads were probably shot by crazed gamers at insane speeds.
