Wanting to put together a 1100fps 1 1/8 reload to match fed and rem lites for singles. Anyone try this one:

    gun club hull

    w209

    16.3 Promo

    cb1118

    7.5 wc mag

I've used the same basic load except using the Rem Fig 8 Wads or the Downrange clone and 16.5 gr powder. Works fine for Red Dot too. I can't say anything about the Claybuster wad, since I didn't try them. These loads chrono'd around 1130, so adjusting for the "light" screen style cronograph, they'd be close to 1100 fps.

Thanks. When I started a few years ago, I used a 1100 fps Hodgdon Clays load and after I got to the 25, I started using handicap loads. Iam on the 27 now but for my wife I see the need for the lites since it worked for me. 1 oz just doesn't seem to be the answer.

Yup. I load nearly the same thing with 8's for singles. Works fine.

I am another believer in 16.5-16.7 gr of Promo with 1 1/8 oz.

More pellets at a lower velocity is better than fewer pellets are higher velocity to control recoil.

I use cb2118 and an estate hull with 19.1 gr promo to get 1130 fps . I wouldn't think 16.3 promo would push any 1 1/8th load near 1100fps. ???

I used 16.2 clays a few years ago when I started shooting and had a few bloopers (my fault untill I learned to cycle the loader properly), but PROMO, is a little faster. (And cheaper)

All Good info. When you change loads, your mind tends to wander!

Just curious why you are not interested in 1 ounce loads?

    Timb99,

Just knowing that you got 40- 50 more chances for a chip at just a pound and a half more recoil when compared to the 1150 fps 1 oz. reload.

OK, fair enough. I disagree, but I can't argue with your logic.

You have to have confidence in your shells.

    Shoot well!
