Anyone know if hot melt glue affects gun

I'm thinking of installing a rib on an old single-shot field gun, and I'm wondering if a hot melt installation might be relatively easy to implement. Does anyone know if hot melt glue might damage a guns bluing? Thanks.

Not sure about the bluing ... but that rib is going to fall off as soon as the barrel gets hot!

Not sure what glue they use, but I once had an Ithaca case I kept a browning in, and the liner rolled down a bit, exposing the inside and the glue to the barrel.

This glue stuck to the barrel( probably because of the oil), and made some nasty craters in the metal!

A gun smith looked at it and said it was safe to shoot, but looks terrible.
