Anyone have a Savage Model 25 varmit rifle? I am thinking about buying one for my Nephew to use in .204 Ruger. He has a Savage Model 93 in 17 HMR and it has been a wonderful rifle for him. This Model 25 seems to be a beefed up version of the rimfire series of Savage rifles. I read some reviews on the net and some didn't like the plastic magazine. Some said the action was sloppy, but all said it was highly accurate.

I would appreciate any reviews before I lay down the money.
    Thank you,
    Doug Allison

I ordered one and sent it back. I did not like it at all. The action is the same basic design as the 17 hmr which is fine for rimfire, but I thought it felt cheap for the centerfire. If you want a savage, I would go for the model 10/11's.

I don't doubt that it is accurate, but I wouldn't recommend it.

My model 25, in 204, shoots accurately. I've shot a couple thousand rounds thru it. Only problem is, it will not feed my HP reloads [ 34 gr hpfb bullets, about 38 or 3900 fps velocity, like a laser, really ]. Savage told me to only use ballistic-type bullets. Great affordable gun, install high magnif scope and shoot squeaks all day long. Haa, haa ! [I've done it, fun] My 2 cents worth. Larry
