Fifteen years ago you would have been shooting at the "old" Brittany. The old club was an eight field layout located about 3/4 mile north of the new club. The Mohr family built the "new" Brittany just in time to host the state shoot in June of 1999. The new club has a large new (in 1999) club house and 24 program traps.

I haven't received the program yet but the normal program would have 100 each singles, doubles, and handicap on Sunday.

I got the program in the mail today, but you can also find the shoot info on their website. Saturday is sort of a "marathon", with 150 pair of doubles, 200 singles, and 200 caps. Pick what you want to shoot, no trophies. Sunday is the normal shoot, with 100 birds in each event.

Well... you're sort of missing something.

Each 100 handicap targets on Saturday is a separate event. So if you shoot well enough it is possible to get two punches - either by winning an event, by mandatory yardage punches (96's or better), or a combination thereof.

The derby is a 50 target non-registered competition. Unless it has changed, competitors shoot 25 targets from the 16 yard line and 25 targets from a handicap yardage. One's handicap yardage is determined by how many targets you hit or miss from the 16 yard line.

There are no trophies on Saturday and some people shoot to avoid penalty yardage at state shoots, the MO. Fall Handicap and other large shoots. Some shoot for the joy of shooting. Believe it or not, there will be people shooting on Saturday for nothing but the glory. If you didn't know otherwise you would think the winner got a $10K payout.

The Brittany is 195 miles from the Kentucky state line. The drive tends to discourage sandbaggers.
