5 people were shot at a basketball game. I thought guns were illegal in Chicago.

Down here in North Carolina we shoot basketballs at basketball games and shotguns on the trap fields. Perhaps those yankees are not so smart afterall.

THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN --- ;-)

Funny you guys should mention that town, below is a list of all the top politicians in that City and State.(Illinois) They are gun haters/grabbers all the next few years will be interesting as it says at the bottom.

    Bob Lawless

    Chicago...

    Who Runs it?

Senators: Barack Obama & Dick Durbin

    Representative: Jesse Jackson, Jr.

Illinois Governor: Rod Blogojevich (in deep crap)

    Illinois House leader: Mike Madigan

Illinois Attorney General: Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike)

Chicago Mayor: Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley)

The leadership in Illinois? All Democrats.

Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago.

Body count in the last six months: 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago
    221 killed in Iraq

State pension fund - $44 Billion in debt, worst in the country.

Cook County (Chicago) sales tax - 10.25% highest in country. (Look it up).

Chicago school system - rated one of the worst in the country.

Of course, they're all blaming each other. They can't blame Republicans because there aren't any.

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois.
And he's going to '"fix" Washington politics for us?

Good luck and may God help us.

You're way off. Lisa is the stepdaughter of Mike. ;-)

When they nail Goldenrod, that'll be 4 commillinois governors in the slammer - 3 of them dumocrats.

stokinpls if you say so 1 out of 12 points, Way Off. Ya and on a technicality to...LOL. BTW if this is the way all those from Illinois think no wonder these leeches keep getting elected.

Kind of like here in The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts we have Fat, drunken, brain full of disease(and I not talking about his Cancer)Teddy. With his sidekick the right honorable War hero John the hunter John Kerry.

After all their only crimes are Bad driving and lying to the people of Massachusetts for 20 plus years from the both of them.

Ivanhoe is correct. Mike Madigan, speaker of the Illinois House, is the father of Lisa Madigan, Illinois' Attorney General. What may have confused you is that Speaker Madigan is Lisa's adopted father.

    ivanhoe:

There are a couple of minor corrections or additions one might make to your list.

    1. Obambi has been replaced by Roland Burris - junior STOOGE from Illinois.

    2. Jesse Jackson, Jr. is just one of nineteen U.S. Representatives from Illinois. A few others representing Chicago and/or Cook County districts include:

Bobby Rush: blatant racist and co-founder of the Chicago chapter of the Black Panthers.

Luis Gutierrez: former Chicago alderman and big time proponent of Puerto Rican independence.

Danny Davis: another former Chicago alderman, former member of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, and currently a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

Dan Lipinski: general rotter. Dopey Dan was first elected when in 2004 daddy Bill Lipinski, former representative from the 3rd congression district, won the Democrat primary then promptly retired. As a Chicago ward boss, old man Lipinski prevailed on the Democrat machine to name "junior" to run in his place thus circumventing the primary.

And... until recently, Rahm Emanuel: Obambi's pick for chief of staff and former member of the board of directors of Freddie (i.e. Fraudie) Mac when the worst of the abuses were taking place. Emanuel's political biography and associates reads like the Who's Who of sleaze.

Rotters all, a good argument can be made that as bad as he is, Jesse Jackson, Jr. isn't even the worst U.S. Representative from Illinois.

Not the worst but the one with the most recognizable name. Unfortunately fruit doesn't fall to far from the tree. Especially worthless fruit.

Interesting that the ONLY vote against impeaching Blago was a Democrat from Chicago.

Capone is gone, but his spirit lives on.

You have a total mess with the Peoples Republic of Chicago and the State of Illinois (and again, why did we locate the ATA in Illinois?). I live in Ohio and wonder how long it will take our politicians to follow suit? Seems like the only well-run states are either in the South or out West (excluding the Left coast). That's only my opinion. Darrell

Are there any Illinois and US Constitutional scholars out there? (Not BHO, who taught it but doesn't get it).

There is some discussion going around that maybe downstate IL should secede from IL like W.VA did and form a state below I80 or the 88 Toll road over to 39 and down to 80. We could keep our tax revenue, fix our roads rather than buy cappucino machines for the Chicago schools, elect (maybe) senators and representatives for the general assembly who weren't umbilically linked to Daley and the machine.

Thirty or so years ago we formed a local, unrecognized group of counties in west central IL and called it "Forgottonia". Got a lot of press and people could identify with good old American values like God, guns, dogs, conservatism, and being nice to each other, or beating the crap out of the criminals.

We are a friendly city of big shoulders, helps with the shoulder holsters. Our problem here in Chicago is that we don't teah the bangers to shoot!

    Halfmile:

The impeachment vote was real a squeaker.

    114 yeas

    1 nay

    1 present

The nay vote was cast by Chicago Democrat (26th district) Milton Patterson.

Elga Jeffries, another Chicago Democrat (35th district) demonstrated great political courage by voting 'present'.

Ken Dunkin a third (surprise, surprise) Chicago Democrat (5th district) who had previously critisized the impeachment process, took a walk and didn't vote at all.

Yeah, it's the city that just missed the boat on a $153 million dollar grant. Now the great mayor daley blames the feds for it because they wouldn't extend the deadline a 2nd time.
