Southworth, WA (AHN) - A man injured himself badly on both legs after attempting to loosen a stubborn nut on a wheel with a 12-guage shotgun.

The 66-year-old man had spent two weeks repairing his Lincoln Continental at his home, northwest of Southworth and east of Port Orchard.

He managed to remove all but one of the nuts on the right rear wheel. When the last nut refused to budge, he got frustrated and decided to use his shotgun.

BBC News reports Deputy Scott Wilson, a spokesman from the sheriff's office, saying: "He's bound and determined to get that lug nut off."

The man fired the shotgun at the wheel from about arm's length when he was sprayed in both legs with buckshot and debris, with some injuries as high as his chin.

He was taken to a local hospital with severe, but not life-threatening, injuries.

The man was alone and not thought to be intoxicated.

No Waterhouse!.....He was definitely a Skeet shooter. There's no other rational explanation!
