I haven't read any reports to validate the rumor that the GFP boys were charged by this cat after they reported to the scene of a cat/vehicle collision near Custer SD. Check out the paws!

I swear I've seen this photo somewhere previously... so I'm thinking this could be NOT from Custer SD.

This could be a SNOPES thing, but this one is a helluva lot bigger that then cat photographed next door about three weeks abo.

Wherever that pic came from, that is a big kitty. The size of the paws are amazing.

Yes BIGDON this was in the weekly newspaper "Lake County News" Storey was a family was traveling north of Baldwin MI on M-37 and hit it. they stayed in the vehicle and called. A DNR officer showed up first, the cat rallied and the officer finished it with a handgun. Same picture. Lord knows I have come across enough DNR, and CO officers in Lake county. but have never remembered to ask about that incident

So what State was this big cat killed in. We now have articles claiming it was killed in S.D., Virginia, West Virginia, Arizona, KY, S.C. and Michigan. It is a very big mountain lion. Maybe it was killed in Mt Nittney near Penn State. Tom

That photo is "photo shopped". Pretty descent job, but still fake. makes for good conversation though.

I sure do not want to cross paths with something that big while hunting turkeys in the Black Hills. Tim Hall

That kinda what I thought about this cat. I know I'd seen this photo before, and I don't *think* we have them this big here in SD.

We do have a season going on now on these cats, and the local newspaper, The Rapid City Journal, lists the daily taken count. It's up to 11 according to today's front page.

One of these days right here in Rapid City and the Black Hills, I expect to read that a cat has killed someone. We kinda walk around here in a fog about them... and we have quite a few folks out in the dark running, walking, and even bicycling.

I won't be shocked. The cats do try to stay away from humans, and the GF&P seems to only kill ones that hang around inhabited buildings, under decks, etc.

Trapboy, your cat WAS in top 5. Top 6 now if that other cat is not a crossbred mongrel.

Please look at those photo's closely. They have been "photo shopped" and the two subjects (guy and the cat) are not the same scale. Kinda like the whole "hogzilla" thing a few years back. Just take it for what it is, an enhance digital photo of something that doesn't exsist as seen in those photo's.

    Trapboy1957,

That's a dandy of a cat! How'd you ever hold the gun still enough to kill him?
