Details on the new Connecticut gun control legislation are starting to emerge, and one of the provisions is an "ammunition eligibility certificate". God only knows what that means. Also, there are over 100 guns banned, and if a gun has only 1 of the banned criteria, it is out. I'm sure there is a lot more stuff yet to be seen.

The politicians need to show the voters they are doing something about the firearms issue even if the "something" is convoluted, confusing, expensive, impractical and has no chance of being made into law. Just the fact that they tried can earn the politicians brownie points with the voters. It's all about being re-elected.

People are fed up and are simply going to ignore oppressive, unconstitutional gun laws. It's been happening but people are now actually openly stating they have or will not obey them. This is exactly how the gun registration scheme in Canada collapsed - mass non-compliance. The anti-gun idiots and their lackey politicians don't seem to understand that the tighter they try to grip gun owners the more guns that fall from their grasp. It's estimated that only 10% to 20% of the "assault weapons" in California were registered. The rest are now beyond the grasp of the government, driven into the underground black market. So by trying for more gun control the government winds up with less gun control.

Can such a thing exist? Is it permitted to even speak of such things? No, nothing like "a black market" could ever happen in AMERICA!

More Government red tape and B.S. Bureaucracy. Permits for guns, permits for ammo. The next thing from Captain B.S. is that we'll need a health card, and have to take a physical to own a gun. That creates more paperwork, record keeping, and give some idiot a job to oversee this clusterxxxx. It really is FUBAR.

There needs to stiffer penalties for violation of gun laws, for example, I know of one case in Indiana that was prosecuted federally in which a U.S. citizen openly went with two fellow illegal alien gang members and purchased a total of a dozen plus M-4 style rifles and one Barrett .50 cal before getting caught. Some of those rifles including the .50 cal was shipped illegally out of the country to central America.

The straw purchaser received a 12 month federal sentence and a couple years of supervised release/probation.

So where is the deterrent for the the bad guy who is a gang member without a criminal record to buy guns for his organization? Once he got caught, his street cred only went up and he had to only serve 12 months.

No wonder the feds are picky on what gun cases they accept for prosecution. A one year sentence in federal court is lame. There are a lot bigger fish to fry. That kid should have served a minimum of ten years in prison for a one time, one gun straw purchase.

CT already does all that background check stuff. Jumps through all the hoops. Criminals just grab and go. Soon CT residents will have to use a luggage carrier for a binder that contains all the rules and regs. One would have to leave for the range at 5 am to get there to shoot eight rounds before five pm, after reading all the rules and regs. There is already a huge burden placed on shooters.

The simple fact is this.... Criminals do not obey laws.

Laws that target the law-abiding have no effect on crime.

None of the current laws being passed or proposed will affect criminals nor reduce crime, because they target the wrong people.

If you want to have an impact, increase the penalties for criminals AND LOCK THEM UP.

IMO, it's just another example of the liberal elite trying to tell you what's right for you when they don't have a clue...totally clueless!!!

They should be dragged out of office, tossed out on the seat of their pants!!!

The libs DO NOT want to prosecute the law breakers. The more chaos the gangbangers make, the better it allows the libs to further their agenda to eliminate guns.

Exactly GunDr. In fact, I've long argued that liberals are deliberately sacrificing victims by coddling criminals in order to create more crime. This makes liberals accessories to these crimes.
