    Ammunition Shortages
Any person who is an avid shooter of military rifle calibers has probably taken notice of the shortage of 5.56 (.223) and 7.62 (.308) ammunition on the market. There has been an even greater shortage in range safe ammunition. These shortages combined with rising metal prices have caused prices to rise dramatically. The industry has seen retail prices raise as much as a ½ a cent per cartridge as a result of over 200% increases in manufacturing costs over the past 12 months . Due to the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, US manufacturers have been contracted to sell all their ammunition to the US Government in order to supply the war effort. Even non-US manufacturers have been brought into the fray in order to fill any gap that the US production cannot meet. Federal has cancelled all back orders and will not be producing or shipping to the public sector until sometime after January 1st. SGC has been doing everything it can to have a steady supply of ammo for its members and we just received a shipment of bulk 5.56 (.223) and 7.62 (.308) and at a great price. The manufacturers will be raising prices 25% more before the end of the year. If you need ammo now is the time to stop in and pick some up while supplies last!
