In the latest catalog I just received from Cheaper Than Dirt there is a statement that they will neither sell or ship ammunition to California after January, 2011. Is this something new from them? Think others will follow?

Because CA will no longer permit mail order ammo into the state at end of Jan. 2011. Handgun ammo purchase from instate retail needs to have finger print and ID.

Due to Assembly bill AB962 signed into law by the Governator.

It restricts HANDGUN ammunition only, and has to be a face to face transaction with fingerprinting involved.

And I believe the law goes into affect February of 2011.

CTD didn't say anything about handgun ammo. Sounds like they are not going to sell ANY ammo to California.

Bet reloading really takes off in CA. I bet Dillon will be happy.

And liberals are saying we are overreacting to gun control and the government violating our constitutional rights. Treating the purchasers of ammo like common criminals. Don't be stupid enough to think this won't be extended to rifle and shotgun ammo. Liberalism and the political correctness it spawns is a brain disorder. A self-destructive brain disease.

It shouldn't really effect ammo. Manufactures just need to put on ammo boxes "Rifle and or handgun" or just say "firearm ammo" Calif then would have to pass another bill to stop the sales!

It just about "wording" in bills!

If its(ammo) chambered in a rifle caliber, there is a handgun out there that fires the same round! duh Government smart as usual!!

You are darn right it's about the wording. This law says "handgun" ammo, which means ALL ammo. They knew what they were doing...
