ALEXANDRIA INDIANA REGISTERED SHOOT 'SPRING CLASSIC' June 4, 2011 (1st day of 2)

We had a great day with temperatures starting off in the 70's and ending in the low 90's. While the sunny weather was welcomed instead of 'liquid sunshine' the humidity was definitely a factor.

The wind was not a factor as only a slight breeze was the normal. We setup four traps on doubles and completed the event and shoot offs before the rain came in the evening.

Nineteen of our forty two singles shooters broke scores of 190 x 200 or better. Four 100 straights were broken in the first hundred of the CTC and two 100 straights in the second 100 along with a lone 200 x 200 by Kenneth Heathcoate. This was Kenny's first 200 x 200 and he sure made himself proud with an excellent score. Ryan Clark broke his first 100 x 100 in the second 100 of the CTC event.

Ronald L Wolfe broke his first 50 x 50 in the first 100 of the CTC event. This was Ron's first registered 50 since coming back after many years away from the sport. Nine of our twenty eight doubles shooters shot scores of 90 or better.

The food was great thanks to Mary and Jane. Thanks go to everyone who came out to our shoot.

ALEXANDRIA INDIANA REGISTERED SHOOT 'SPRING CLASSIC' June 5, 2011 (2nd day of 2)

We had severe weather Saturday night with limbs blown down and our #2 trap with a foot of water inside. After cleaning the area and pumping out the trap house we got started at 9:30 am. We had a great day with temperatures in the mid seventy’s with winds in the 0 to 5 mph range. While the humidity was high it was more bearable than Saturday. You couldn’t ask for better handicap weather.

We had minimal trap issues with minor breakdowns.

    EPILOG

While other shoots were going on in different places and many graduation were occurring our expectations were not as high as if these events were not occurring. Overall we had a good turnout for our first Spring Classic shoot considering the above.

Our thanks go to the club caretaker and the many members and non-members who helped make this shoot successful. Most of all we thank our shooters for patronizing our club. In the future we will strive to make our club the best four trap club in this area of the state.

    Guys,
Although I'm not in the ATA anymore, I enjoyed my small window of time coming out to watch the first few squads of singles that went out. I know your work is tireless to run ATA shoots, and hope all the shooters realize this. You all do a nice job with a GREAT attitude.

    All the best, Patrick

Congrats to Kenny Heathcoate on your 200 straight. You've put in the time and effort to shoot that score and it's good to see it pay off for you. Hope you have many more. Greg Saucedo
