A new style K-80 34" Unsingle barrel, #0554, "mysteriously" disappeared from a UPS packing box on the way to Ottsville. It has Hi Viz front bead, and Angleport choke. The empty box was "found" on the wrong truck, and of course, UPS is proceeding with the corporate lie, er,,, line.

Apparently, the UPS drivers know what goes to Ottsville Pa. in packing boxes.

If you are approached by someone who would sell this barrel, it has been reported as an Interstate theft. Please contact authorities.

BTW, it has a broken lower ejector.

Did the barrel have insurance, tracking number or delivery conformation ?

A customer shipped the barrel. I NEVER use UPS, as I have a commercial Fed Ex account.

They are giving him the runaround. I advised him to call Braxton in Ottsville and go from there. Generally, a letter or call from one's attorney gets the problem resolved.

Hopefully, attempting to have the ejector replaced under warranty will locate the barrel.

    UPDATE

After a few calls from Krieghoff Intl' to the "right" people at UPS, the barrel magically re appeared and is being returned to owner next day. (thief chickened out?)

The customer is going to have me ship the barrel Fed Ex. (WHEW)

    Final update on this barrel.

I have it in my possession. It had a broken Hi Viz pipe. It will go to Braxton at K.I. today for repair. I will use my commercial Fed Ex account. (WHEW)

I've bought 2 barrels over the years that arrived as empty packages from different shippers. Barrels can easily beat their way out of sloppy packaging. Don't be too quick to blame the shipper if the packager didn't know what they were doing.

I had my single barrel from my DB-81 stolen off of UPS in 1993. Now I use FED EX and request anyone shipping to me to either use FED EX or USPS, absolutely no UPS.

    Dear Andy

The package had been cut open with a razor, probably a box cutter. After the barrel magically re appeared, they got the package and the barrel together, and sloppily taped it. We were lucky it got back without it coming through the tape.

I am very strong for may age, but I could not tear the package with my bare hands. Also, the big label had been torn off.

I believe the phone call from Krieghoff Intl' management to UPS did the trick.

Its still wise to get insurance, tracking and delivery conformation regardless of who you ship with, at least then it can be traced to a specific spot when it disappeared and may also deter a thief from stealing your item when they see this on package.

I have had many problems with UPS, but none from Fed Ex. USPS has not been able to deliver by their own guaranteed delivery schedules. I have heard not one good thing about DHL. I guess I will stick with Fed Ex.

The folks at the terminal know me, and go out of their way to take care of me.

    That says a lot.
