Looks like the WWII (1943) trainer they just fished out of Lake Michigan off Chicago. Went down during "carrier" training. Pilot survived but died in battle later the same year. Check the Tribune or Sun Times websites for more complete stories.

With a wing like that, I'm guessing F4U Corsair. My .02

Well, the handle on the "come-along" does kinda look like the one on a MEC 9000 (tho' teal colored). Any one who breaks theirs in the future might be able to run to the garage and finish out the flat of shells without waiting for a replacement. ;-)

    Looks like a loooonnnnng restoration.

    Restoration??

Put some fuel in that sucker and she'll fire right up. Thats classic American Made machinery right there. Ok, maybe blow the grit out of the exhaust and intake first.
