Want to buy a good scope for a Beeman R1, .177 pellet gun. Already blew the crosshairs out of a Leupold 1x4 Shotgun scope and a Burris 3x9 Rifle scope. Can anyone speak of a good brand name for this type gun. Want to stay under $250.00 if I can. Thanks in advance.

How 'bout a Burris Compact 4x-12x air rifle scope as new in the box for $250 delivered. I seriously doubt any R-1 can destroy this scope. I simply have too many scopes for my Beemans. If you think the recoil on an R-1 is something, you outta try an RX-2!!

From a indoor air rifle instructor, NEVER put a scope on a air gun unless it is sold as for a "Air" gun scope.

Air guns have what is called "double recoil" it will knock out the cross hairs on any "rifle" scope even the $1000+ models.

You can put a air rifle scope on a center fire rifle and be ok, but the cross hairs are a little thicker.

I have a Simmons Pro Air 4x12 on my RWS45. It is a great scope, very clear glass and tough. I have had it 8 or 9 years now and have gone through over 2000 shots without a problem.

Check out Hawke Optics for great, programmable reticle scopes! I have 4 of them, all airgun rated and have had zero issues. Very clear optics, most all are etched reticles, and the free program is great! If they pass the test on my RWS 350 Magnum, they'll work on any airgun!

I learned the hard way also. The air guns need scopes designed for air guns. They also need good mounts or you won't be able to keep it from moving
