Wednesday, June 18, will be the 2nd annual “AG DAY” at the Ohio State Shoot. We have special sponsors, payouts, and flats of shells drawings to honor Ohio’s largest industry, agriculture.

This year we have 4 major sponsors: John Deere, Monsanto, DeKalb/ Asgrow Seeds, and Specialty Fertilizer Products. Deere will be providing a lawn Tractor for a shoot-out, and Monsanto, DeKalb/ Asgrow Seeds, and SFP are providing $3000 added money to each of the 3 events of the day. This will go into a special “AG Day Lewis” for each event, and you must play it to win it, at an entry cost of $10. It will be paid 8 classes, with only 1 money per class. Last year we had some substantial payouts on this special Lewis class event. You can also pick up raffle tickets at the displays of the sponsors for free flats of shells. These shells are being provided by our associate sponsors, Williamson Crop Insurance Agency, Randall Brothers Equipment, Buckeye Application Sales and Service, and Nester Ag LLC Crop Consultants.

2012 had the largest Wednesday shoot in Ohio State Shoot history, and we are looking to surpass that this year. Come early in the week to the Ohio State Shoot and enjoy “AG DAY” along with your trapshooting!

Had a question. Are the youth shooters who shoot each day qualified for the special shoot-offs, like for the tractor and the guns being offered?

Yes- the youth are eligible for the special shoot off prizes. For the John Deere Tractor, all they need to do is enter the event. Some of the special shoot off prizes require the entrant to play that option to be eligible. The Blaser gun shootoff requires $5 option for events 7 and 9. The E-Z-GO golf cart and trailer shoot off requires a $10 option per event, or you can pay for all 12 events on event 1 and save $30.

Names of 5 entrants are drawn for each event on the golf cart and trailer, and they win a flat of shells and qualify for the shoot off. 5 bonus names are drawn right before the shoot off on Saturday evening, so 65 will qualify and the last one standing wins, ATA yardage.

On the Blaser, 1 number will be drawn for events 7 and 9, and if your score ends in that number, you are in the shoot off, ATA yardage. Last one standing wins.

For event 5 on Ag Day, 2 numbers will be drawn. If your score ends in that number, you shoot off for the lawn tractor, ATA yardage, last one standing wins.

We will also have Dale Minyo, the voice of Ohio Agriculture, broadcasting his daily farm show from the center of the trap line near the ag sponsor displays. Dale's son Ryan is an excellent trap shooter, and past member of the All-Ohio sub junior team. Dale is also a youth coach, and big supporter of our sport. Stop by Dale's mobile radio studio and let him know what you think of "Ag Day".
