I have an adjustable charge bar for my MEC Grabber. Once adjusted it will dispense charges within +/- .1 grain, but only for 6 or 7 charges when it starts to vary, usually downward but has occurred upward as well. I seat the "lock screw" with the small Allen wrench as tight as I think is safe without breaking or bending the Allen wrench. Anyone with similiar problems? Any solutions?

Mine works without flaw. I have one a 650 and one on a Jr. I have never had a problem.

    Good luck.

Sounds like you may not be adjusting the caliper from a "too large" setting thus allowing the insert to "wiggle" . Re-check the "setting directions" which should result in pushing the insert to the final position rather than pulling the insert . Pushing will eliminate the "slop" when you tighten the set screw .

Using them for 10 years or more, no problem. As stated above, open it too far and adjust in till it's set right. I do not lock the screw. It never turns.

If you have it in, and open it till it's set right it will screw up every time.

I have two of them; one for 1 ounce and the other for 11/8 ounce. I find that by turning the adjustment backwards one full turn, than turn forward to just short of what your want and than CREEP up to the exact measurement that your want. This (my opinion) keeps the threads of the adjustment tight.

The locking set screw only goes against the threads of the spindle allowing the BLOCk that the spindle is threaded into to move.

You may have the powder bottle turned down too tight. I have a brass washer (p/n 304W) against the charge bar and a rubber grommet (p/n 304G) on top of the brass washer. I only make the powder bottle firm against the washers not overly tight.

    Good luck.

Also check to assure the rubber washer has not cracked or come apart and catching or hanging up. I was lucky and a piece of the rubber was sticking out of my hull so I found it right away. Ray

I'm with the rest of the guys on how to adjust the bar but,the lock screw doesn't have to be that tight. You are supposed to have the little piece of stick plastic in ahead of the lock screw to keep it in adjustment and protect the threads. If you don't have the plastic, use one 7 1/2 shot. GOOD LUCK
