I removed, cleaned, and measured the action spring on my Remington 1100. After assembling again the action spring follower popped out after I had replaced the spring plug pin. Is there something I can DO to keep it in the tube or am I SOL?

When you reassemble it, the action spring follower goes into the tube first, then the spring, then the plug, then install the pin. See schematic in link above. Is the follower pushing throught the end of the tube into the receiver?

Yes. The plug is steel and it pushes through the end of the tube, ending up in the receiver - unless the link is in there. I looked carefully and it appears that the end of the tube is flared out. Probably damaged beyond repair.
