Has anyone stayed at the Southwest Hotel & Casino and if so, how were the accommodations? I'm taking the 4 day Defensive Handgun course there in December. Thanks.

Relatives of mine are there right now taking the 4 day handgun again, I hope to make it down soon myself. I will ask them about hotel next week when they return.

Do you have a membership yet? I plan on purchasing 3 diamond memberships (2 for my sons and 1 for me) this next week.

Bocephus, no, I haven't signed up for any membership program. There was a deal offered to U. S. Concealed Carry magazine subscribers earlier in the year. For $1199 they offered the 4 day Defensive Handgun course and a Springfield Armory 9mm pistol. They're still offering an $1199 deal but it no longer includes the gun. Please let me know what your relatives have to say about the accomodations. I have a favorite hotel in Vegas but it's an hour away; there are three places in Prodhump with Southwest being recommended by the guy I spoke to at Front Sight which is only 15 minutes away. However, I'm very concerned about mediocre accommodations. Thanks.

I will see them tomorrow, today is the last day of the class for them. You will want to stay there in Pahrump, you will be tired after class, they are going to work you over good. Frontsight plans on building their own hotel in the near future, and they will have lots for sale for those that would like to have their own house.

Have you already purchased and scheduled your class?

Yep, I have; the hotel in Pahrump was the Saddlewest not Southwest. So, let me know what your relatives have to say about the hotel. Thanks.

Yes Saddlewest is the best choice. Try the Nugget for meals, 3 bucks for steak n eggs n coffee. Good buffet in the evening also.

Frontsight offers a good deal on membership while you are there, 2 Legacy memberships for 5000, includes an XD. I think they offer payment plan via credit card.

This last class which ended Monday was their largest so far, 540 people, that is about 130,000 rounds fired each day. Your hands will be sore....

What make and model gun will you be shooting? And did you get the XD included in your package?

Thanks for the info. I'll be picking up the XD while I'm out there and will shoot that for the course. I'm bringing my Uncle Mike's shooting gloves because my Sig 232 really hurts the web of my shooting hand and I figure the blowback from the XD will probably be just as bad.

They will let you use the gun while there but will have to send it to your ffl when you are done, so take a copy of the ffl from the dealer you want it sent to.
