I just got on line and cancelled my AARP membership due to their stance on health care. I urge you to do the same if you are a member. Perhaps if enough of us cancel our memberships they may look at their political views in another light. Bulge.

They bombarded me with mailings when I reached my 50s. I kept stuffing everything they sent me in the postage paid envelope they provided and sending it back with "NO" written across it in big black letters. They finally got the hint and quit sending me literature after a year or so. They are just showing their true colors now.

Wife and I dropped it last year. I get the same discounts or better as a Senior citizen when traveling. As an RV owner even Good Sam beats them.

I never joined. I believe them to be a criminal organization. Their main purpose seems to be to extort as much money from the government for themselves and their members.

Bisi, that sounds just like the Democratic party, the NAACP, ACORN and so many others. Maybe they will all be jailed so the world will be a far better place.

I cancelled my memberhip years ago when they endorsed Harry Belafonte as their person of the year or something to that extent. Their leftest slant is way too much.

After the FL. hurricanes came most insurance companies pulled out of FL. AARP was the only way to obtain coverage at a FAIR and REASONABLE price. We and many others were fortunate. Just my 2 cents.

AARP has been nothing more than a shill organization for insurance sales.

I use the temporary card they send periodically, never gave them a dime.

How bloodsuckers like this get started is a mystery. They claim to be able to save me money on insurance, but can't do it. And if you try to get a quote you better get a bigger mailbox. Maybe you can heat your house on the crap they send.

Dennis thanks for telling the truth about an organization that is for the age of it's memebers and not the party to which they belong. It's nice to see the make-up of a group and the truth about an organization. All the big insurance companies don't want to pay claims for future storms that will happen, we know the storms will come just a matter of when and where they will hit. The big boys all drop out and this group of one wayers want everyone to have no coverage at all. Thanks for your post. Dan

Never joined, thank God......Was told they supported gun control. Now when they send me junk mail I stuff the pre-paid envelope plum full of other junk mail and send it back. They end up paying double to receive it. Gives them less money to support gun control and Barney Franks.

Got my solicitation today....Sent it back with a note that as long as they supported the healthcare crap,,,,they get no money from me,,,,

Dennis and Dan,,,,You don't want to pay higher premiums for flood or hurricane coverage, don't build there or build a hurricane proof house,,,,it is not the insurance companies job to pay for a sure thing without collecting enough premiums....

I won't ever be a paying victim of the AARP. The main reason that they would offer something in an area where it's tough to get something, is that the competition has been mostly eliminated. If you study business, they didn't do it to lose money. They are an organization that does not believe in the rights of their members. Their members are there for them to feed upon and sell their wares to. A captive audience if you might think of it that way.

I don't need this post to become some "big huff", but just exactly what's the beef with AARP Insurance programs? I joined AARP 21 years ago when we were RVing to get their script offer.($110 for every $100)Worked great, never a problem! When I went on Medicare I went to AARP for supplemental coverage. I have their Plan F, it's pricey but if a medical procedure is Medicare covered then AARP picks up any overage, 100%, no deductibles, no co-pays, no paper work outside of the Doctor office. They even pay the annual Medicare deductible. If Halfmile can point me to another plan with the same coverage & cost I might change if the will accept an 'old coot' with pre-existing conditions! I've had my share(maybe more, maybe less)of medical problems in recent years, without a good suppliment insurance I would be belly-up broke by now! I use an independent agency for Home Owners & Auto insurance, been with them for 52 years. As does ExFedex I have Good Sams ERS, very satisfied with them. Quackshot states "they didn't do it to lose money", I'm sure most company's don't "do it to lose money!" I'm probably just as much of a Red Neck as Barrelbulge, I fly my flag 24/7/365 also!
