I saw an ATA pin, AA27AA. What are the requirements to qualify for one? Is it a 97% avg. in singles, 27 Yards at 90% and 93% at doubles? And if so, how many targets at these averages? Thanks........

A shooter must end the target year with those averages.

Wrench, The handicap average has to be above the reduction average for your zone. Otherwise you could carry the singles and doubles average and refuse reduction to be on the 27.

Shotshell you may know how it was supposed to work but not how in fact it does work. Just be on the 27 yard line no average or break point considered.

I got mine with an 87% 27 yard average and was K, D coded at the time.

    From Trap & Field:
To earn an ATA AA-27-AA pin, shooters must have year-end AA averages in both singles and doubles (see III.D. "FIVE CLASSES" sections of the ATA Rule book). The averages used to determine AA-27-AA recipients are those listed in the current Average Book.
Recipients must be on the 27-yard line at the end of the target season, and they must have maintained an average high enough to avoid computer-generated yardage reductions. Minimum target requirements:
Men - 3,000 singles, 2,000 handicap, 1,000 doubles
Women and juniors - 2,500 singles, 1,500 handicap, 750 doubles
Sub-juniors, veterans, and senior veterans - 2,000 singles, 1,000 handicap, and 300 doubles
Pins are given on a one-time basis. The awards are generated by the ATA office at the end of each target year; shooters do not have to initiate the action in order to receive a pin.
"The handicap average has to be above the reduction average for your zone."

If the shooter in question only has 300 targets shot since reaching the 27???

If the shooter in question reached the 27 on the last registered shoot before the year changed????

Nothing is cut and dried in this game has been my experience just when you think it won't happen it does and either way.

Info from the August 2009 issue of Trap and Field (p 18) doesn't say anything about handicap average:

To earn an ATA AA-27-AA pin, shooters must have year-end AA averages in both singles and doubles (see V, C, “FIVE CLASSES” sections of the Rule Book). The averages used to determine 2009 AA-27-AA recipients will be those achieved during the 2009 ATA target year and listed in the 2009 Average Book. Recipients must be on the 27 at the end of the target season.

    Minimum-target requirements: men—3,000 singles, 2,000 handicap, 1,000 doubles; women and juniors—2,500 singles, 1,500 handicap, 750 doubles; sub-juniors, veterans and senior veterans—2,000 singles, 1,000 handicap and 500 doubles.

Pins are given on a one-time basis. The awards are generated by the ATA office at the end of the target year.

I do believe you can't have refused a reduction.

I hope the ATA didn't eliminate the handicap/reduction average requirement. That would be another milestone goal diminished in my eyes.
