Remington United States Clay Target Championship

Remington will sponsor local and national championships in trapshooting, in conjunction with, and as an added feature to any regularly scheduled registered ATA clay target event.

To qualify to enter the Remington competition at any registered shooting event, the shooter must present a cash register receipt for the purchase of, and a proof –of-purchase panel from, ten boxes (250 cartridges) of Remington target loads purchased from any Remington dealer within the 7 days before the event.

Example: At a registered trapshoot, management, or a Remington representative at the event, will record the name and ATA membership number of each qualified entrant. At the conclusion of the event (suggest the main handicap) when a winner is determined, shoot management will notify Remington’s contest managers the name, address and ATA number of the winner and forward a packet containing the qualifying receipts. The winner will be mailed a Wal-Mart merchandise certificate, good for any purchase at Wal-Mart. The value of the certificate will be based on the number of qualified entrants times $5.00. For example: 20 shooters X $5.00 = $100.00 certificate.

At the ATA Grand American Handicap, the top 25 Wal-Mart certificate winners for the target year will automatically qualify to shoot-off for the Remington Championship Cup which carries with it a $1,000.00 merchandise certificate. The order of finish will be determined by the entrant’s score in the Grand Handicap and will run concurrent with it. The top 25 will be those who have won the most certificates during the currant ATA target year. All tied for the top 25 will be permitted to compete for the Championship.

This promotion will increase the interest in registered shooting. The concept of awards based on ammunition purchase is similar to the purses at the Grand funded by ammunition sales by the ATA. This will raise general awareness of Remington, the ATA and Wal-Mart and will increase business for all.

Could this be the reason there aren't any Remington reloading components around?

"This promotion will increase the interest in registered shooting"

BS on this,it's about selling more shells.

Attracting more shooters is not about awarding the top shots. The fact is,this is not a cheap sport if one is to be competitive in it.If they want to attract more shooters,it needs to be done in a way to offset the cost for all.
