Can you get a punch for winning a h'cap event with 11 shooters with the high score of 85? The ATA book seems unclear.

    Mixer,

The Ata Rules Book indicates that you would require a minimum of 15 shooters before any one earns a punch with a score of 85/100. Only the shooter(s) (15 shooters or more) with the high score would be punched for 1/2 yard. The exception is with mutiple Handicap events shot during the same day with fewer than 15 shooters, then you would combine the different individual shooters in all events with fewer than 15 shooters. After combining the different individual shooters and if totalled more than 15 the high score(s) would receive a 1/2 yard punch. Hope this solves your problem.

If less than 15 shooters and a score less than 96 - no punch

Thanks for clearing it up. That's what I thought but wanted confirmation.

I'm glad to see you got official confirmation by some self-appointed "experts". Next they will be giving you investment advice right before you go bankrupt.

Nyttro, the PITA rule book shows the Earned Yardage Tables on page 39 and 40. There's no mention of "in each yardage group", just total number of shooters. I won the Sunday HDCP in Madras, Oregon and received 1/2 yard punch. But one more target and I would have had a 1 yard punch. I was happy to get the 1/2 yrd that I did, David.

I sure wish an 88 was all that was needed to win the HDCP at the shoots I have been going to lately. 97-100 is what has been needed at all yardages. Of course I got a one yard punch for my 97 and ended up splitting the pot with another person who shot a 97 instead of doing a shoot off. We just combined the pot for HDCP Champion and class winner then split it.

Madras is this weekend. It will be interesting to see what scores are shot there. It is suppose to be quite warm (atleast to me)in the low 80's with 12mph winds.

Who asked the moron Anony for his input. The old saying about empty barrels make the most noise is true.

For those that are interested the ATA rule Book under section VI The ATA Handicap System Page 24 Paragraph E. Earned Yardage Says

    1. Yardage will be automatically earned by shooters of high scores in all
ATA registered events, according to the following table. This additional
yardage is indicated by punches on the shooter’s Average Card.

    EARNED YARDAGE TABLE
    High Scores (and all ties)
    Entries 1st 2nd 3rd 4th
    15-39 1/2 yd
    40-69 1 yd
    70-124 1 yd 1/2 yd
    125-249 1 yd 1 yd 1/2 yd
    250-499 1 1/2 yd 1 yd 1/2 yd
    500-1499 2 yds 1 1/2 yds 1 yd 1/2 yd
    1500 and up 2 1/2 yds 2 yds 1 1/2 yds 1 yd

    2. Any score of 96 will automatically earn 1/2 yard provided it does
not earn at least that much under the earned yardage table. Any score
of 50x50 or 75x75 in events of that length will automatically earn 1/2
yard provided it does not earn at least that much under the earned
    yardage table.

    3. The State/Provincial Handicap Champion will automatically earn 1
yard provided the score does not earn at least that much under the
    earned yardage table.

    4. Any score of 97, 98 and 99 or winning a total of $750.00 or more
(option and added money) in a single handicap event will automatically
earn 1 yard, and a score of 100 or winning a total of $1,200.00 or more
(option and added money) in a single handicap event will automatically
earn 1-1/2 yards provided these scores do not earn at least that much
    under the earned yardage table.

    5. In marathon Handicap events comprised of more than 100 targets,
each 100 targets (or remaining part of 100 targets) shall constitute a
separate event for earned yardage purposes and shall be reported as
a separate event on the shoot report form.

    6. When multiple Handicap events are shot during the same day

Hope this helps all understand even Anonymous.

Nyttro, if your friend shot a 1st place score or tied for high score then he should get 1/2 yrd punch if there was 25 to 49 shooters, 1 yrd punch if 50 to 99 shooters. It's his responsibility to make sure he's on the right yardage. He should talk to Sue or Rusty Brewer to find out.

teleskier, I'm sure the scores at Madras this weekend will be right up there. I can't speak for Saturdays scores last week, I was not there. But on Sunday, even with rain, the scores were up. Mrs. Patridge shoot her first 100 straight in singles. My 96 was high in HDCP. Hope to see you all there tomorrow....David

Anonymous the man asked a honest question you ought to have enough respect for people to keep your mouth shut if you can't come up with a good answer. If you don't have any respect for yourself how about have it for other people or is that too much to ask of you

Well an 89 at Granit Falls a couple of weeks ago was the highest score in all yardages. With the comnined winnings including Calcutta the guy won over $600 so you never no how the scores will turn out for a big win. I won't mention who it was irner.
