HEY EVERBODY, CHECK THIS OUT. COULD THIS BE BOB BARR'S RUNNING MATE?

"Former Tough-Guy Actor Runs for Senate"

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 25) - "Sonny Landham carved out a tough-guy reputation in a series of big-screen roles, from roughing up Sylvester Stallone to getting tossed out a window by Carl Weathers. He pulls no punches in his newest role: Libertarian challenger to a man known for political toughness, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell."

    Actors-Turned-Politicians by Ed Reinke, AP
    Actor-turned-politician: Sonny Landham
Acting roles: '48 Hours,' 'Predator,' 'The A-Team,' pornographic films
Political role: Running as a Libertarian for Kentucky's U.S. Senate seat"

This is the guy that played "Billy" that pulled out the machete to fight the predator in Predator, and lost. If he wins it will be 3 actors turned elected politicians from the same movie: Jesse Ventura, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sonny Landham. That has to be a Guiness Book of World Records or something. And check out his films where it states he has been in pornographic films. Whats that all about? He just might win in Kentucky if they perceive him as a bad a$$ and porno star. You know Larry Flint was originally from Kentucky. In the immortal words of Mel Allen "how about that?!!!!"

    Here's some more on this:

    June 24, 2008

"Predator actor Sonny Landham to run for U.S. Senate"

"Sonny Landham, perhaps best known for his role as "Billy" in 1987's Predator movie, has called a press conference in Frankfort for 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in which he will announce that he is running for U.S. Senate as a Libertarian Party candidate.

Landham, who lives in Ashland, flirted with Kentucky politics in 2003 by announcing for governor as a Republican before dropping out before that year's May primary.

According to a press release emailed to reporters, Landham secured the Libertarian Party of Kentucky's nomination and will be introduced at his press conference by Ken Moellman, Jr., the party's state chairman.

To get on the November ballot as a Libertarian candidate, Landham must pay the state's $500 filing fee and collect at least 5,000 signatures by Aug. 12.

Landham, 67, would join Republican U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell and Democratic challenger Bruce Lunsford in the race.

Even though Landham is a former Republican, state GOP chairman Steve Robertson said he didn't think Landham would divert votes from McConnell.

Landham has appeared in 53 movies, according to the International Movie Database. Most recently he played "Boone Cagle" in a 2007 movie called Disintegration. He also has acted in a number of adult films in the 1970s, including ones called Slippery When Wet, The Trouble with Young Stuff and Steam Heat."

This guy reminds of the Denny Crane video that was floating around on TS.com, when William Shatner said he liked sex and prostitutes and that he would get down and roll around on the floor (with the lady in the interview) if they turned the lights off. That voters would find it refreshing to see Republican that wasn't sexually repressed trolling airport bathrooms.

Heck, this guy has apparently rolled around with a woman or women with the lights on and in front of a camera to boot.

You really should keep abreast of what is happening. Barr already has the V.P. slot filled. It was filled at the National Convention held back in May.

Wayne Allen Root is the Libertarian V.P. candidate. My question posted several days ago about wgho will be the V.P. already had that info. The Libertarians are the only party that has already announced their President and Vice-President candidates.

That said, I do not give them more than a snowball's chance of surviving a stay in Hell's Blast Furnace chance of actually being elected. In order for that to happen, BOTH parties candidates would have to be caught live on national tv buggering little boys in an airport restroom while wearing pink tutus to even make people look at the Libertarian President candidate. And, with the two party "That's my team" attitude of most American voters, even that might not be enough!

Don't get me wrong. I would like to see Barr and Root get elected but I have been a registered Libertarian for enough years to know the current political realities and it just ain't gonna happen this year.

pyrdek, thanks for the confirmation of Root being VP candidate for Libertarians. I had heard that previously. However, I thought everyone would get that this info about Landham running for Senate in Kentucky was as much humor and satire as it was informative, especially with his past porn acting career. Didn't think Barr would change his mind regarding Root, but I thought the possible VP candidate thread subject helped it tie in with the Denny Crane stuff from Boston Legal.
