When my friends are happy, that makes me happy. When my friends suffer sadness, I share that sadness with them. Both Devi and Martin are my friends. Devi is a strong woman.

Devi, it is so sad to hear the news of a lost loved one, as most of us know the feeling. Nothing can ever replace them and I don't believe God has that in mind anyway. You will always have those memories to enjoy and the lessons in life that your Grandfather instilled in you. Take confort in that and look forward to seeing him again one day. You and Your Family are in our prayers. Jackie B.

    Thank you, everyone...

Martin and I just returned late last night. It's strange to know that he is gone...I mean, he's been there for me, my siblings, and cousins for all of our lives. When any of our parents screwed up, he was there to step up to the plate and take us in. It was our grandparents who really made us a tight-knit family.

Martin got to see a part of the south that he'd never seen before...home to me. I took him to where my great grandma grew up (she and I were very close). It's Cade's Cove in the Great Smokey Mountain National Forest. The fall colors and snow-capped mountains were breath taking.

Martin met most all of my family, and he got to hear my southern accent partially return (it slips out when I'm down there).

And we got to see my brothers baby grand daughter, and my sister's baby grand daughter, for the first time. Old ones pass and we are sad, and new ones come along and bring us great joy.

I appreciate all y'all's support. It meant a lot to see the thread. I really didn't expect it. Today is the first day that I cried. I think I needed that.

My deepest sympathies! Devi I know how hard it is to loose the bedrock of a family but in your case I think you will fill that void just fine. Take care.
