What would you do in this entirely hypothetical situation? Let's say that a certain obnoxious and annoying in-law came by to a family gathering and left a very very nice folding camp chair at your house. This guy never brings anything to the table. He mooches all your beer and food and arrives empty handed and is just a pain in the ass in general. Now, let's say that this chair has sort of grown on you. It has a built in foot rest and 2 beer holders and is the most comfortable chair that you have ever sat your duff on. Now, let's say that it's been in your possession since Memorial Day.

Would you consider this YOUR chair now?

    Tron,

If you get plenty of kitty hair on it, I don't think anyone else would want it. Revenge is sweet, even if wrapped in a $7.99 chair!

    Hypothetically, Yes.

But, if it ever really happened, No.

Tell him that with the cost of "storage fees" the chair is now yours, plus he owes you a case of beer too.

Pull a Putin and thank him for the gift. Be sure to say something like, 'This chair is one of the nicest and most useful gifts I've ever received.'

If that chair just sits it will get lot rot. You are doing the guy a big favor by using it.

When he shows up and recognizes it, tell him you kept it safe for him, but he owes you storage fees.
