1. We have added the ability for anyone to 'bump' threads that they have created. This is mainly useful in the classifieds area where posters constantly bump for sale threads to bring it to the top. This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

For more detailed information please see this post: Thread Bump Functionality.

Yeah, it is. Damned shame. I'm an 870 fan and this gun tempts me. I bid on it once but that really ruined it for me.

Also, it has a TC forend with cut checkering and a field stock with pressed checkering, a lot of drop and an adjustable comb, the adjustment mechanism for which appears very unfriendly to a left-handed shooter. I'm right-handed so that isn't a factor but I would want to install a TC stock with wood as nice as the forend. If a decently matching stock couldn't be found, both pieces of wood might have to be replaced. Then its comb would have to be made adjustable to work with that high rib. All that $$$ has to be taken into consideration when bidding on the gun.

    Then there's that damned porting...

The listing says the rib was added to a magnum barrel, did they make a TC with a magnum barrel or is this a field barrel with a rib added?

It would be a field barrel. To a Remington buff, that might detract from its value somewhat but it should still be a good shooter. I'm guessing this is a "parts gun."

I read an article one time about a gunsmith, that installed ribs, was fond of using "magnum" barrels for his custom work. There was something about the pattern, weight, and the chamber that made if favorable. It was quite some time ago when I read this and for the life of me I can't remember the gunsmith's name.
