    Can one put a 3" barrel on a standard(2-3/4") 870 20ga & use it?

the main difference between the 2 3/4" and 3" actions is the ejector,

the 2 3/4" action with a 3" barrel and 3" shell may jam up after firing due to the 2 3/4" ejector hitting on the fired 3" hull before it cleared the barrel, but that would be the only thing you need to worry about.

Yes IF it fits--BUT as Big Az Al says the ejector is 1\4in further ahead & also on mine the ejection port is longer than the std. 2&3\4 receiver, hence the ejection problem, so if you use 2&3\4" ammo you should be OK. Rem made some changes between the original Wingmaster & the later LW models which (I think) had a shorter magazine tube. Ross Puls
