In the 70's did each model such as the TM1 have it's own serial number series are did the numbers run consec regardless of the gun model? Any idea of how many TM1's were being turned out a year during the time they were being imported by Ithaca? Thanks, gyrine

TM were made in relatively smaller numbers, usually within a few hundreds per year, Within couple years after Perazzi USA was formed, the sales number declined to dozens, then Perazzi drop the production.

I intended to say TM1. I have owned 2 Ithaca TM1, both proofed XX8, 1972 I believe that were almost 800 numbers apart, 10xx and 18xx. Does this make sense? gyrine

Well, '72 & '73 happen to be the peak of TM production.

Forget the serial numbers...use the date code on the barrel.

What does the date code look like and how is it interpreted?

I use the proof date code shown above for Italy. My TMX is serial # 84xx with a proof code of 'AI' (underside of barrel) meaning that the barrel was proofed in 1982.
