IMR 700X still made as well as Federal still manufacturing their Papers but seems neither company desires to publish current recipes. My question is: How many grains of IMR 700X using the Federal 12S3 wad along with the Federal 209a primer to get this loading moving at/about 1200 fps? Only interested in these components. Thanks in advance, Bob in Los Angeles

I load papers - go to the IMR web site again and look up gold medal plastic cases and use that data. I cannot give you my recipe because I shoot 1 1/4 oz, 7625 1350 fps loads for games but you can use the gold medal data

The above recipe is correct for the old Federal 209 primer, but not for the 209A!

Now use 18.5 grs of 700X with the 209A.

I have loaded thousands of the Fed paper hulls using this recipe with excellent results.

My 2004 Federal reloading data booklet shows the Federal Gold Medal paper case with the 209A primer, 12S3 wad and 19 grains of 700X as 1200 fps and 10,100 psi
It also shows that with the Federal Gold Medal Plastic Case, 12S3 wad, 209A primer and 18 1/2 grains of 700X, yields 1200 fps, 10,200 psi

Thanks guys your input was well appreciated. I've been using 17.5 grains of 700X for singles and it gets out there quick. Very happy with that load so with that being said I'll juice up the load to 18.5 grains and see how it does at the 25 yard line. Bob in Los Angeles
