Try 18-18.5 grains Red Dot you will be pleased.

I like my 7/8 a little on the fast side besides powder is cheeper than shot.

I use 13.8 gr of 700x with no recoil and still breaks birds pretty good. I even used it for handicap 22-23 yd and doubles

17.8 Grains of Red Dot or Promo, Winchester WAA12L gray wad, Winchester 209 primer, 7/8 oz of shot. It will produce about 1250 fps and works pretty well. For longer ranges or higher velocities, I like the 12S0 wad from Federal or the Claybuster clone.

For a good 7/8 ouncer, I like 20 gr Red Dot with the WAA12L wad in the Remmy hull, and the WAA12SL wad in the AA hull with 19 gr.

I use Clone wads. These are medium presure loads and will boil a target.

If you don't feel the need for speed, 18 gr is still moving along and will do what you need.

I generally use 1 1/8 loads at the 27, unless I use my Mirage Bunker gun. With a 33 point fixed choke, it will boil a target with a quick one ouncer.

I used up the last of my Remington 209p primers and red dot on my first 7/8oz loads. I used STS hull TGT12 Wad 17grains red dot for 1200fps, if I recall the preasure was about 8000psi? MY NEW load is 7/8oz home made shot CCI209 primer, Win WAA12L wad 16.3 grains of clays for 1200fps. I really like this load. I shoot it for club league and practice. I plan on trying Down range XXL pink wad next.

Personally, I never accept recipes from anybody who can't spell the word.

Look at the Hodgdon loading data for Titewad powder. It's a great 7/8 and 1 oz powder. 17.0 grains of Titewad in a tapered hull with a TGT 12 wad, 7/8 oz of 8.5's, and a W209 primer makes a dandy load. I believe it runs about 1250fps. I use this shell for the first shot on doubles and skeet when I use my 12 ga (which is almost never). I'm not much for singles, but it should work pretty good for that too!
