Can anyone share experience with this powder in 28 ga loads?
I have ordered some to use for AACF hulls and any advice would be appreciated.
I have plenty of hulls and old WAA28 wads, very old but still in good shape.
    Thanks,
    Donny Sanders

Doubt you're going to find any recipes. Powder mfgs aren't in the habit of producing data using obsolete components.

Recipes from current components will get me a starting point.
Also, opinions of performance, ect... will be helpful.

    572 is a new powder. winchester's description

"This new Winchester powder is strategically designed to do a myriad of jobs. First it has the correct burn rate to create the famous 3 ¼ dram equivalent, 1 ¼ oz, 1330 fps 12 gauge load, originated by Winchester. And, it does it with any brand case! Back Fence competitors and pheasant hunters will be delighted. Now, that is just one application, and it goes on to provide clay target loads superb in 20 gauge and 28 gauge, top field loads in both, and, outstanding field loads for the wonderful 16 gauge. In addition, 572 has a vast number of pistol applications, ranging from the 25 ACP to the 45 ACP, and all popular calibers in between. This is one positively versatile and useful propellant."

there are lots of loads on hodgdon's web site.

The following data was for Factory AA20ga that was marked 1200fps (i did not have any factory 28 ga ).
These were the readings on my Oehler 35P.
    1222 fps
    1228 fps
    1237 fps
    1233 fps
    1218 fps

These were readings with the following load for 28 ga:

28 ga AACF hull once fired
    Winchester primer
    Winchester 572 powder 13.0 grains
    Winchester AA28 wad
    335 grains shot

    1167 fps
    1168 fps
    1186 fps
    1178 fps
    1170 fps

same components but 13.5 grains 572
    1201 fps
    1207 fps
    1204 fps
    1222 fps
    1223 fps

same components but 14.0 grains 572
    1249 fps
    1253 fps
    1252 fps
    1243 fps
    1238 fps

component quantities were hand weighed for each shell.

Sand, did u have any of these loads tested for pressure? I have plenty of AACF 28 ga hulls but shoot a tubed gun and since load is not on Hodgdons website I am curious as to what the pressures are.

How about the patterns? I still have a few thousand of the old style AA's and I still load 13.5 of Unique 3/4os of West Coast 9's, waa28 wad and a Win 209.

I loaded a batch of cf aa 28 hulls with #14 bushing on my hydraulic mec which throws right at 13.3 grains of 572
and some old pc28 blue wads. Loaded beautifully and clocked at 1220 area. Shot charge at 3/4 oz.
