I asked this question a day or two ago on TS.com and had no takers..... "I have a question for someone with a copy of Lyman Shotshell Reloading Guide. Would you please look up in the .410 loading tables (lead shot) and see if it lists any recipes for Winchester AA (old) hulls, Win 209 primers, 2400 powder and Remington 41SP wads."

Does anyone on TS.com load .410's with 2400 powder? If so what recipe are you using? I have both Win AA old and Win AAHS hulls.

I also have several pistols for sale with pictures and descriptions listed on my website if your interested.

    Thanks

I doubt you'll find a load. You have picked the most bulky powder, the most bulky wad, and the least capacity hull. It'd be a tough fit even if there was a recipe for it.

I have several "Hercules" manuals from the late 70's early 80's that showed 13 grains @ apx. 12,000 psi.

That being said, if you can manage to stuff it all in there, you will find hull life to be abysmal. Been there, done that bought the tee-shirt. Went back to W296. Never looked back.

Lyman Shotshell Handbook, 2nd edition, page 255 shows; 13.0 grs 2400, Winchester 209, Remington #SP410 wad in the Winchester compression formed hull. Velocity 1145 (fps) 10,490 pressure (LUP).

Two other loads listed for 2400 in this hull with different components.

As stated, 2400 is too bulky. If you had the old, old ribbed light green Remington hulls, you can use 2400 in them.

    Otherwise forget it.

I know this is not your load but I use the old AA hulls with 15.3gr of 296 powder. Cheddite primers, clay buster wads. It is a unbelievable load.

I load/shoot about 5000 .410's per year. Here is what works for me:

Old style AA (silver lettering) 14.2 grs H110 (W296) and a Orange PC wad.

Remington STS 14.8 grs H110 and a Remington SP410 wad.

For my Winter league shooting I use 15.3 grs H110 in the Remington STS with the SP410 wad and 8-1/2 shot.

I've been loading the 2400 in my .410. Using the Claybuster 410 wad and it didn't seem too bulky to me. There are definitly better performing loads, but it was free. When I'm done with this pound, I'll try something else. JW

Jim, that Orange PC wad will work fine in both of those hulls you are loading!!! A bit cheaper than the Rem's as well. Break-em all. Jeff
