I recently bought a Beretta 391 and am thinking about having a custom paint job on the stock. On one web site the painter stated that to prevent any paint from chipping on the 391 they would remove the gas port on the forearm and replace it with a Beretta made rivet. I am new to 391's but I guess that port must be there for a reason. What problems could this cause? Thanks

I believe what he means is that he will remove the gas port from the forearm before painting it, then reattach the gas port with a new Beretta made rivet after the painting is completed..
