is there anything special about it? engraving - high grade? etc? could be a lot

if not and it is in 90 percent condition- its another $100-$150 dollar rifle, which will not go up in value

    regards from Iowa

I have a 303 also. Mine is all original nothing fancy just plain jane but nice. It has a fold down spring loaded rear tang peep sight. I took it to a gun show last week and talked with one of the collectors who is a friend of mine and he showed me one of his that was not any nicer than mine and he had it priced at $1500. He said the 303 now is down a little due to not being able to get factory ammo and he said mine would be worth between $1000 and $1300. Thats if it is all original no reblue original stock finish etc. Hope this helps.

It depends on condition, year, and special features. Prices for one in good shootable condition start at around $150 and go up from there. Special features can send prices up sharply, as can condition in the upper 90% range.
The 303 Savage is probably the least desirable chambering for the 99. The ammo is difficult to get, though some new old stock ammo can be found at gunshows. Pretty much it will have to be handloaded, and few want to do that for a cartridge that really is not much of an improvement over the 30-30.
Here's my Savage 99, Centenial 1 of 1000 (#721) in 300 Savage. Not sure what it's worth either:

wow, that is one sweet 303 . mine isn't even close to that . although , the last manufacturing date is june 1909 , with no actual model number visible . it does have a rotating cylinder magazine with a window on the left hand side that has a shell counter . no cracks in the wood and the blueing is in good shape .
