3 inch chambers

    Why 3 inch chambers on trap guns?

    I tried the search function and could not find this topic.

    I think it's more convenient for the manufacturers when they make both field & competition guns to just build one barrel type. I have a Beretta 390 Trap gun & a 682 Sporting Clays gun & both have 3" chambers although only 2 3/4" shells are used in both games. According to the late Stan Baker, shooting 2 3/4" shells in a 3" chamber makes no difference as far as patterns, recoil or anything else. John
