Is there a big enough differance between 2 3/4 and 3" shells when it comes to 20g. right now all I can find is 20g walmart 4box pacs. Any Factory 1oz 20g shells with 1200+ velocity?

    Winchester makes 1oz 2 3/4" 20ga in 7.5 and 8 shot, but they are only 1135 fps I think.

What I am looking for is 20g for our yearly 20g shoot at our club. I have seen some 20g 3" reminton heavy dove in the past just none around locally.

check and see if walmart can order you what you want. Most can, even if you have to get a couple guys from the club together to make a complete flat.

Here in the Massachusetts store I go to. They have a hard enough time going into the back room for shells let alone order them. Recently their stock has me thinking they will not be selling ammo much longer. I think once bass pro and cabelas moves in they might just drop the 10 foot counter of sporting good they have now.

Dicks hasnt been much better, mostly turkey loads with 5 or 6 shot. 7.5 is the max at our range. Im just wondering how much of an advantage does shooting 3" vs 2 3/4.

    PMC makes a 20ga 2 3/4" 1 oz 7.5's or 8's at 1215 fps.
Bought them at a Sportmens Warehouse in Pittsburgh, $34/flat about 2 weeks ago. You may be able to find some around you, I assure you, Sportmens Warehouse doesnt have any more...

IMHO- If you try & ram any more than 1oz. down a 20ga, you get a very poor pattern.

Federal, Remington, Winchester, Kent, Fiocchi and B&P all make 1oz 20b loads in 2 3/4" shells. If you are looking for more shot, try the Winchester Supreme Game Loads with 1 1/8oz @ 1175fps. It uses hard copper plated shot and grex buffering. They make it in 7 1/2 shot (X20XC). I've never used the 7 1/2, but in 6 shot it patterns superbly.

There is no reason to use 3" shells if all you want is 7 1/2 shot.

Estate also has a 20 ga. heavy game load in 1oz @ 1165 fps #8. Shot a bunch of them yesterday. Definitely a little more oomph than the 7/8 loads.
