Probably a dumb question, but I just don't know: How does one attain/shoot from the 27yd line, when all the trap fields I've been on are 16 - 25yds?

    Thanks,

    Mark.

All the trap fields I know of have a 27 yard line. You must be on some old ranges. But as to your question, you earn yardage by winning a handicap event at a registered shoot or shooting a very good score (usually a 97 or better out of 100 targets). The earned yardage is also known as getting a punch because your shoot card gets punched with your new yardage.

    Thought a 96 was a automatic 1/2 yard?

Wolfram. I understand your yardage. 96 will get the shooter an automatic 1/2 yard. 97 will get you an automatic 1 yard.

At small shoots 94s and 95s often get you a 1/2 yard punch. not at state shooots or the grand or zones, etc.

I thought after you shot trap for 27 years you went to the 27 yard-line.
