How many grains is 24 gm ? If you have shot this weight. How much does it differ from seven eights of an ounce load ?

Thanks keller. Thats 12 pieces of 8 shot. I think you could interchange 24 gm with 7/8. Do you really think it would matter ?

I have 33 boxes (3 unopened flats + 3 boxes) of Winchester AA International Target Loads - 3 1/4 dr.eq. 7 1/2 shot. Velocity isn't stated on the box but I'm assuming these would exceed ATA limits... correct? I don't shoot bunker so no use for them other than to shoot them up for practice, seems a shame. If anyone in central OH is interested, I will sell for $65 a flat.

Why don't you shoot bunker? There are two facilities near you?

The Winchester site says their 24 gram shells go 1325 ft/sec. You might check one to make sure the shot isn't plated, but they should be ATA legal.

I know that Federal and Remington both put nickel plated shot in their International shells. But Winchester doesn't say anything about that on their website.

B&P makes a 24 gram load @ 1235 FPS. I thought it might be too slow for bunker, but I shot a couple of rounds with them before I knew their speed - and they were great. The recoil was negligible.

You might want to check the weight that your shot bush drops. My Hornady 7/8oz - 7 1/2 shot drops less than 24 gm. A lot less, and WAY less than 7/8oz. And I was using mag shot so chilled might have gotten close to the spec'd weight.

None of the "precise" Hornady bushes drop the marked weight.

Did Hornady make bushings at one time for 7/8oz. 9s, 8s, & 7-1/2s which would allow the use of a bushing for 7/8 8's to throw 24 gr 7-1/2?

Plated shot is no longer allowed under ISSF rules.

It was my understanding that the bushes were machined to drop the specified weight of the specified shot size. 7/8oz is 7/8 oz and is not 24 gm of anything that I know of.

And as I mentioned above, none of my bushes drop the specified weight. But then I don't know what shot was used to calibrate or the tolerance. So they may be wonderful and I just don't have the right shot ............... or not

My 7/8 oz. Hornady is the only bushing I use any more. Grabbed the last two loads dropped. One was 392.2 and the other was 391.0.

So a little more than 7/8 oz. (382.8).

    It's all fun.
