I'm prchasing a used Win. 1300 20ga for my daughter and want to load up some light loads to break her in. Hodgdon has 3/4oz loads listed using Int'l Clays. Anyone have any experience with these? Are they too light for squirrel hunting? If you have any other pet loads let me know.
    Thanks.

15.5 gr of Alliant 20/28 under RXP wads works well for all but the heaviest 20 ga shooting.

One suggestion on low velocity squirrel loads, use larger shot. Atleast 6's and 5's are better.

I have used 13.9 grs. of PB or 14 grs. of Unique with 7/8 oz. for light 20 ga. loaads. I can't remember where I got the info. but I have shot thousands with no problem. Larry

There is an article in the September 2009 issue of Skeet Shooting Review on this subject. Tom Ceretto specifically mentions a AA hull, Winchester 209 primer, 15.5 gr. SR7625, Winchester WAA20 wad and 3/4 ounce of shot. This gives a velocity of 1,161 fps @ 7300 psi. Additional light loads are found in the Alliant and Hodgdon reloading guides, according to Ceretto. 15.5 gr Universal. orange duster wad, Win HS hulls, 3/4 oz,1200 fps +, is a excellent load that matches compoents well with that hull.

I have used 13.2 gr. of 700X and have had nice trap loads that will be light and still eject from a 1400 skeet gun .
