Look at the shootata website and the new 2013 Rules has the 2 yard reduction rules identified.

Looks like 2013 will be interesting!

This is absolutely ridiculous. I know plenty of guys who shoot from the 20-21 and have caps averages <90% but have singles averages >96%.

So basically we're going to make caps just like singles.

Maybe I'll just take up skeet.

Darn, too late to take my .410 ga skeet gun to an ATA shoot and drop my average below the trigger point. Oh well, there's always next year!!

I went directly to Shoot ATA Web Page scroll down to 2 yard reductions, it states you had to get reduction if you did not take it prior to Sept 1st 2012
as reductions had to be taken before 2013 target year.

I read what you posted, now you go to Shoot ATA Web Page and scroll down to 2 yd reductions.

I don't see this as a new reduction anywhere.

I admit I may have missed something but I do trust the ATA Web page

That's right, Gary. And it's out of date.

    Things change. Time moves on.

The information at the link above is the latest.

Does anyone know when these reduction will be in affect? I'm getting ready to pre-squad for me and 4 other shooters for the fall Handicap. What will happen if I pay then two or three of us get the reduction?

I doubt that will happen before October.

If it does, the worst that would happen is you might have to re-squad.

For V10, or some other knowledgeable person... I was 26 1/6 before the first 2 yard reduction. I took it and went to 24 1/2. Try as I could, I didn't get any yardage this year. My average is in the high 80's.

I just got a 1/2 yard reduction to 24 yards in the mail yesterday. I was 27 at one time and figured the closest I'll get will be 24 yards. The difference between 24 and 24 1/2 is, well... nothing.

Since I thought I can't get closer, and I'd like to get back to 25, I followed the directions and went to the ATA site and refused the reduction. I DID NOT click on the option to refuse all future reductions.

My question is... If there are no "Y" code restrictions on the "NEW" 2 yard reduction, did I screw up my oportunity to get it by refusing the 1/2 yard reduction???

I feel like I should call ATA to see what's going on!!!

    Shooter R and jeffprigge,

I'm not absolutely certain, but the previous reductions and refusal of reductions should not matter. Provided you meet the other criteria, you should be offered the 2-yard reduction.

It will be somewhat up to your Delegate. And Delegates did ask that more information accompany this next 2-yard reduction, so it's possible that your Delegate could use some of that information to not permit you the 2-yard reduction, if you're eligible.

But, with that said, yes, a "Y" coded shooter could be reduced below the 24-yard line as a result of this next 2-yard reduction.

Actually, the "Y" code has been changed slightly this year. Now the "Y" code just signifies that a shooter has attained the 27-yard line at some point in their career. It used to also prohibit reduction below the 24-yard line. That prohibition has been removed and now, I believe, moves below the 24 yard-line will be reviewed by the Delegate and CHC member.

    Nope.

You don't meet the first criterion:

"Must have shot in Last three years – 2010, 2011, 2012"
