Dear Athletes, Parents, Coaches, Members, Supporters and Olympic Shotgun Sports Enthusiasts,

The Board of Directors of Chubb International Shooting Sports, Inc. are proud to officially announce the creation of a Junior Olympic Development Camp (JODC) in Olympic Trapshooting to be hosted at their Keystone Shooting Park (KSP) complex on Saturday and Sunday, May 26 & 27, 2012. The camp is a cooperative effort between USA Shooting and Keystone Shooting Park, which is recognized as a “Certified Training Center” in Olympic shotgun sports by USA Shooting. The total cost of the camp is $100.00 per athlete and it's restricted to 18 athletes.

USA Shooting has awarded a grant to Keystone Shooting Park under the “Certified Training Center” program to offset a significant part of the costs that would normally be absorbed by the athlete. This grant now affords Junior athletes a more economical opportunity to receive intense and focused sport specific instruction as offered by certified USAS Level 1 & 2 shotgun sports coaches with over 70 years combined experience in the sport.

The purpose of the camp is to introduce Junior shotgun sports athletes to Olympic style shotgun sports disciplines and give them the proper instruction and coaching to allow them to develop a personal goal set commensurate with those set forth by Keystone Shooting Park, USA Shooting and the United States Olympic Committee. The mission of the “Certified Training Center” (CTC) is to promote the sport, train and direct Junior athletes into the “Olympic Path” for possible consideration in both National Developmental Team and National Team selection procedures for future World and Olympic competitions.

Camp athletes will be segregated into squads (Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced) based on known ability and experience. Each squad member will contain similar skill levels which will promote a more cooperative and nurturing peer instructional environment. The segmenting will allow the coaching staff to offer uniformed and pertinent instruction to the squad based on their joint skills, knowledge and experience. All camp athletes will receive the following:

    • Daily classroom instructional periods (Olympic Trap DVD & PowerPoint Material)

    • 5 live fire training rounds per day

    • 500 Baschieri & Pellagri Mach F2 - 24 gram 7 1/2 cartridges

    • Daily lunch and refreshments

    • Comprehensive instruction from “Certified” USAS Level 1 & 2 coaches

The camps curriculum will focus on:

    • Gun Handling Safety

    • History of the Sport

    • Choosing the Right Equipment

    • Sport Technical Aspects (Rules & Range Standards)

    • Fitness & Nutrition

    • Building Proper Technique

    • Commitment to the "Olympic Path"

    • Live Fire Training Exercises

    • Building Team Spirit

Local overnight lodging facilities are available. Please consult the Logistics/Lodging portion of our website for a list of lodging options. Each camp day shall commence at 9:00AM SHARP!!! All athletes are requested to be on-site and have their firearms and appropriate gear prepared at least 15 minutes prior to commencement of both days. Both eye and ear protection are mandatory on the firing line and there will be no exception to those rules.

Giacomo Sporting USA, Inc. (Perazzi) and Krieghoff International, Inc. (Krieghoff) will provide KSP with demonstration guns specifically set up for Olympic Trapshooting for use by our camp athletes. Each demonstration gun will have an adjustable stock which will allow it to be custom fitted for the athlete. Use of them will be permitted to all athletes under direct supervision of our coaching staff.

Pre-registration and pre-payment are mandatory. Registration will be on a first come, first serve basis. After camp capacity has been achieved a waiting list will be established. Interested parties can view additional information on our website. A special "PayPal" link has been established for on-line payment. Those opting to use on-line payment, you will still need to complete and sign both the "Camp Registration" and "Liability Waiver" forms and return them either by email, fax (717-362-1966) or by mail to the address listed below. Those choosing to register by mail, the check should be made out to "Keystone Shooting Park". A full refund will be offered if cancellation notice is received (5) days prior to the start of the camp. Please consult the website and documents for camp eligibility and more details.

2012 is a leap year and it's now when you need to take a leap of faith in your future. Without a doubt we are all looking forward to the Olympic Games in London this summer. More importantly…….now is when we need to initiate behind the scenes activity to prepare for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games to be hosted in Rio de Janerio, Brazil from August 5 - 21. Keystone Shooting Park is a premier training facility and it was built on the "Field of Dreams" concept of "Build It And They Will Come". We now only have 1,618 days until the start of the 2016 Olympic Games.

Are you ready to walk the "Olympic Path" to Rio? If so……it starts HERE!!!

I was fortunate enough to train with Allen last fall at Colorado Springs. He is positive, energetic, and totally committed to the next generation of shooters and champions.

This will be a great happening.

    Congrats, Allen.

    MIA & John,

Sorry I've pretty busy and didn't have time to check the thread lately. Your comments are well appreciated and thank you both.

We're proud to announce that the camp is sold out and it did so in only 4 days. I will be posting to our website this morning the same message. Our camp athletes will come from 9 states (Arizona, Wyoming, Tennessee, Ohio, Virginia, Maryland, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania). As the Hollywood movie Field of Dreams echoed "Build It And They Will Come".

    Chuck,

Thanks a lot for your great comments. It sure was a pleasure talking to you on Friday and we look forward to meeting both you and Dave. I can assure you that his time at KSP will be one of the most positive and informative experiences that he could ever hope to achieve. On a side note, I made a mistake in that we actually have athletes from 10 states. I over looked our athlete from Connecticut.

Dan and Giacomo will be at the Perazzi USA Grand Prix event at KSP in June. Giacomo is scheduled to award the prizes like last year and Dan will have his trailer present to both service and sell guns to the patrons and spectators. Dan is supplying a demo gun for the JODC, but is not scheduled to attend. We hope to change that, but he's a very busy guy and we respect the needs of his business. Perazzi USA is also supplying all camp attendees with a "Goodie" bag for their participation.

Time to pony up for the kids. The entry fee will not even cover the ammo!

This event is not one to be missed if you have a young athlete with drive, potential, and motivation.

    John AKA Shooting Coach,

Thanks a lot. The good news is that the event sold out only 4 days after release of the program email and we have a waiting list in place. We received a grant from USA Shooting under the "Certified Training Center" program to cover the residue costs of the camp. Yes, this is still one heck of a bargain, especially given what they will receive as well as the value added aspects of the event. I could get into a lot more details about that, but I would recommend that you give me a call on my cell phone and I can elaborate on them for you. I can guarantee that you would find this information very intriqing and up lifting, especially as a fellow coach.
