Looking to use up my unique powder from pistol shooting.
Have also a lot winchester 209 primers
would like to stick with gun club or my sts hulls
    #9 shot 7/8 loads
just about everything I see for published loads is rem primers rxp20 wads.
for the cost of those primers and wads I might as well buy factory rounds cause Im not gonna save that much.

This is not a published load but I have been using 15.5gr. of unique with Winchester clone wads and win.209 primers for years in briley tubes with no problems.

16.5 grains ,claybuster 1078-20 and w209 will get you closer to 1200fps if that's what you are looking for.

I used this for many years when I was shooting skeet and loading Unique. Less recoil and better fit than 16.5 grains and performed as well.

I would not hesitate to substitute the Win primer for the Rem primer in those recipes that call for using the Orange Duster wad.

Has this load ever been sent in for testing? Alliant shows the same load except with a Rem primer at 10,600 psi. So the question is: Will the Winchester primer raise the pressure close to or above the 12,000 maximum for 20 gauge shells? I was under the impression that the Winchester primer was a "hotter" primer, therefore it would raise the pressure of the shell. And no, I'm not looking to start a flame war.

I would look at the Orange Duster as a substitute for the OEM wad.

15.0 of Unique at about 1150 is a great load that I have used for many years.

All I have ever used for 20 and 28. In 20 I use 16.0 Remington hull, Winchester primer.

    started loading some 20 gauge
    15.1 grains of unique
    7/8 oz #8
    cb1078-20 wad
my hornady shot bushing throws heavy so I tried the tape trick that works
but stack height still to high. I used a remington american clay shell and even when you put the flash light on backside wads even look cocked and crunched. and the gun clubs are even worse.
should I take some more shot out till crimps set in a little.
