Dan Orlich posted the first Grand Slam July 30th 1964, almost 1 year later George Snellenberger achieved the 2nd Grand Slam on record on May 21st 1965
Larry Gravestock achieved the 3rd Grand Slam One year later on May 21st 1966

Ask these 3 Gentlemen about their achievement when you see them as they are still around, they can tell you some stories.

I have shot with all 3 of these men over the years at some point in time.

The absolute fastest shooter I shot with was Britt Robinson, man could he ink ball targets, he had it broke when I first saw the target. One of the fastest shooters ever, in my opinion.

George Snellenberger is not in the Ohio State Hall Of Fame, he was told he did not live here in Ohio long enough, He told me that Sunday at the Cardinal Center 8/21/9011 during the Cardinal Classic, he lived here 2 years.

    .

These guys had a rough row to hoe, and they did not have ROTO TILLERS.

My Grandest Thanks to you Dan Orlich, George Snellenberger and Larry Gravestock

There were 2 dates for Dan Orhlic, one was 1962 and 2nd site has 1964

Just a question if the first 100 from 27 was shot in July of 1964 how could Mr. Orlich possibly shoot complete a Grand Slam in 1962????

I believe that there is a date mistaken here somewhere.

Mr Orlich's grand slam was in 1965.

Col Throckmorton broke the 1st 100 from 27 yards in 1964.

Rick According to Mr. Orlich's Profile under inductees on the HOF site. It was in 64 right after the Col Throckmorton shot his.

"Dan Orlich was the second in history to accomplish the feat, on July 30, 1964, just 11 days after the initial one. From then until May 11, 1968 he totaled six of them. That was two years before any other had two."

RickN I sent a Email to the HOF after posting here and I now see that the date has been changed to July 30, 1964. That to me makes sense as he was the second man to shoot the 100 from 27.

If he actually did it 11 days after it does coincide with what his profile says even though the pro file appears to have the wrong month(May). If shot the 100 in 1964 then the 1965 date would appear to also be incorrect.

So Rick at this time I am confused as to exactly what the time line is.

Look at the ATA Web Site, It did not say 27 yards, I believe the 25 was max then
The website lists the first 3 grand slams, and Dan already had his 100 in doubles and 200 on singles before that date.

Gosh some of you are so quick to condem someone w/o looking up the ATA Records.

I search for interesting articles and post some for you shooters.

Why don't some of you posters that reply to threads check things out before you reply. You won't look so dumb then. Or better yet so stupid.

Gary We look stupid so tell me where did you get the 1962 date???? Instead of insisting that everyone else is incorrect why don't do all the research necessary to arrive at the correct answer?

"1 Dan Orlich Nevada Friday, 30 July 1965 HD"

That quote is from the HOF website under Records, Grand Slams page 9 half way down the page. That date is different also. Right now under records where it says first shooter to complete a grand slam if gives the name and the date which was 1962 it now reads 1964.

No one was picking on you the reasons the dates are incorrect has nothing to do with you or what you did as far as research is concerned Yet you call everyone stupid. From your constant know it all attitude I am pretty sure the stupid person is becoming quite obvious to everyone.

Dr. Longsh/t, You better look at your first post before you call people stupid. You can't even post your dates right.

    Tommie,

I shot with both Easterwood and Huddleston for years in the Bay Area (as did you) and I remember Evan shooting that 31 right beside me when I was shooting the 31 I bought from George Krenzin. We were a'klankin' and a'bangin' but we sure could smoke some targets.

I'd like to find that 31 too.

See you in Bend next week.

I believe Orlichs first 400x400 was shot in the PITA and may not be in the ATA records,,,,MX8Dave
