    Hi,
Looking for some advice / recommendations for 1 oz load using remington hulls & either federal or fiocchi primers.

Powders are e3, american select or promo (these are the powders I can find at the moment)

Target fps is 1180 to 1200 (looking for a load that I can shoot trap & my son can shoot skeet with)

I have checked the alliant website, but they all their receipes are with remington primers

    Thanks

    David

    You can substitute Fiocchi Primers.

16 grns of promo, cb 1100 wads, cheddite primers, rem hulls

good for trap, skeet, your shoulder, and your wallet. 1140 fps, you dont need more than that. try it.

ADDing this - Would drop 17-17.2 grns if i was shooting beyond 23 yd line.

David, e3 and promo are the better bets for the 1oz load you are looking for. Am Sel will work, but the pressure is low and you may have cold weather problems.

I don't have any load data for either Fiocchi or Fed 209A primers, but Fiocchi is very close to a W209.

My favorite load, bar none is STS hull, W209, 17gr e3, TGT-12 and 1oz #8 WCM shot. Lyman says 1194 with either a W209 or an STS209. 16gr gives you 1150fps.

My favorite 1oz load is close to Hookedonshooting's, except that I use either Clays or Clay Dot (16gr) and Fiocchi primers. Very soft shooting and smashes them from the 16yd line.

Stick with me, this is from memory, 17.2 clay dot, 1 oz magnum shot 81/2. Noblesport 209 or Winchester 208 & a DownrangeTGT --evaporates short yardage targets.

STS or GC hulls, Fiocchi primers, DRXL-1 wads, 18gr. Red Dot , and 1oz. of #8 or 7 1/2 shot.

I've started using Claybuster 3/4oz wads for my 7/8oz recipe. Remington hulls, Cheddite primers, 16.7 grains of International Clays. My charge bar consistently throws right around 365 grains of #8 shot, which is about 20 grains shy of being a full 7/8oz. I had experimented with adding some filler before I drop the shot in. I've used small pieces of foam padding, cardboard and even 6 grains worth of silica gel pellets, which I think had the best results. A buddy even started putting a few popcorn kernels in his, as he was having the same slightly light shot drop issue I was having. But putting that filler in almost doubled the amount of time it took to reload each shell.

All of that was in the pursuit of getting a good crimp that didn't have a hole in the middle that shot could fall out from. Switching to the 3/4oz wad has resulted in perfect crimps every time with no filler. I also seem to be getting the same scores from 16 yards from my reloads and from new shells.

    I second perazzidb81's recipe;

    I use 17.5 titewad, cheddite primer, 1 oz. #8's

In Federal Top Gun Hulls I use a Claybuster 12SO wad

In STS Hulls I use a Claybuster CB-1100-12 wad.

I had the same question. I e-mailed Ben at Alliant it took about a week to get an answer but he said winchester 209 would be fine.

STS hull, Rem primer, e-3 powder, DRRT12 wad. Got the recipe right out of the Alliant Powder Guide. Very nice soft-shootin' load.
