1oz @ 1150-1180 fps in Fed TG hull- Powder choice?

Trying to figure out what the best choice for powder in these hulls will be for a 1150-1180 fps load.

I've kinda narrowed it down to Alliant Extra-Lite or E3. Extra-lite has a load @ 1150fps, which is what I think I'd prefer at this point. From searching the past threads, it looks like E3 might be a little better choice, but I can't find any loads less than 1200fps.

Also looked at the titewad recipes, but even w/ Fed 209A primers and Fed wads, it has really low pressure (7100 psi @ 1180 fps). I've had trouble in the past with incomplete/inconsistent burns when the pressure gets too low, so that's what has me nervous.

This is what I'm thinking at this point:

    </center>

    Any issues with this load?

Here's what I load (for many years now) and have had great results.

1 oz. Hard Shot, Fed TG (Estate & GM too) hull, 12S0 (or clone) wad, Fed. 209A primer. 16 grs. of IMR 700X powder. Published speed of 1150 fps with 6700 psi.

    1 oz. Hard Shot, Fed hull, 12S0 wad, Fed 209A primer, 17 grs of 700X = 1200 fps @ 7300 psi.

Nope I have used pretty much the same load 15.7 and 12so 1oz with chedditte. I played around with the powder drops and like this load better than the heavy drops. Burns clean But I still like red dot better.

Curt- No issues w/ off sounding loads or incomplete burns w/ the 1150fps load? I was looking at that one as well, but any time I see a pressure below 8000 it makes me nervous.

The load I had issues w/ before was 1oz in an STS hull w/ Int'l clays. PSI was 7100. I had to switch to a Fed 209A primer, which bumped the pressure to 7900 psi, and the problems disappeared.

BTW, gun is .750 bore if that makes any difference.

I wonder now if that's why I had issues w/ the Int'l Clays load (was using a Rem TGT-12 wad). I wonder if the 12SO wad will seal a little better...

I've been using Nitro 100 in Remington hulls for 1oz at 1150. I haven't tried it in Federal hulls, but the loading guide has data for 1oz loads at 1150. I linked the guide above.

Great question - and is the same reason I bought 8# of X-lite (to load 1oz in FTG hulls). I had some problems in winter when I was using Noblesports primers. Ever since I switched to using Fed209A primers only ... I havent had any problems. Even though you cant find a published recipe for E3 below 1200 ... looking at the pressure data ... I would think you could find a very reliable 1500-1800 fps load using E3. Red Dot works fine also. I have successfully used Claydot in the following recipes ... and the shells perform terrific. FPS velocity confirmed by chronograph.

FTG hull, 18.0 gr Claydot, 12S0 wad, 1 oz shot, F209A primer = 1180 fps

FTG hull, 18.0 gr Claydot, DR XL-1 wad, 1 oz shot, F209A primer = 1150 fps

Skeet_Man....absolutely no issues with either of the 2 aforementioned loads. I have been loading them for at least 10 yrs.

    Best of luck...

I've been loading 16.4 grains of extra lite and 1oz. Been a very good load for me so far. Extra lite is the cleanest burning powder I've ever shot.
