Sixteen year old rookie shooter Janessa Beaman ran 100 in singles today at the Autumn Grand, which is only her fifth registered shoot!!! She came to Tucson with only 400 registered singles and 96 as her high singles score (she has already shot two 99's and a 96 in handicap since Sept. 1st.), but thus far has shot two 96's and 100 in singles. She was depressed after shooting a 75 in the first handicap, but has rebounded nicely. She was fortunate to shoot today with Leah Larkin-Dixon, who also ran the 100. Congratulations to both Ladies!!!

She seemed to be very happy. It is a good think her grandad was not wearing a button up shirt, there would have been buttons flying everywere.

Janesa is a phenom. She not only had the 100 in the class singles, but turned around and carded a 99 in the preliminary handicap on Friday. She shot off for and WON the Championship. She is a very nice young lady and so glad she decided to join the ATA ranks. She impressed everyone at the shoot. That girl is going places! She has not received her ATA Average Card and is using the receipt she got when she joined the ATA. Her Dad (I think)showed it to me and she already had 4 punches (maybe more)...not including the 1-1/2 yard punch she would receive for the 99. WOW is all I can say....

I think this girl must be like the bumble bee that doen't know it's aerodynamically impossible for it to fly; she doesn't know that it's supposed to be hard to break a 100 straight so she just goes ahead and does it!

    Janessa,

is a very quiet, composed shooter, who when I was on her squad, in doubles is also a very confident shooter, her 98 in that event was a buetiful thing to be near.

Talking with her dad and granddad, It sounded like she made a couple small mistakes in the handicap today, and she let it effect her somewhat, when she learns how to put that one bad shot behind her she may have the raw ability and talent, to be one of the best.

I believe the 99 in the handicap put her on the 24 yard line. I think she was standing on the 22.5 when she broke the 99, but that could be wrong....and as Al stated, she is quit shy and very nice. She could very easily make the 27 yd line this year - she had beautiful form...a joy to watch.

Thanks to everyone for the very kind words and great support she received at the Autumn Grand. It was quite an overwhelming experience for her so early in her career, and she made many new friends, and quite a few accomplishments. She shot doubles for the first time there, where she carded an 83, then 95, then a 99!!! It was unbelievable to see a person shoot them so well so quickly. We are all still stunned!! Her 99 in handicap and winning the shootoff (moving her to the 24) was her favorite. Can you imagine trying to choose between running your first 100, shooting a 99 in doubles on only your third attempt, or shooting a 99 in handicap at a satellite grand (all within 2 days of each other) as to which was your favorite? It has been quite a thrill to watch. She was disappointed in her other scores, but she doesn't realize what she has accomplished so quickly. She is truly the bee that you describe.

She won't make the 27 before she turns 17, as she probably won't shoot again until the Spring Grand (Colorado is not the greatest place to shoot in December), which is after her birthday. Her goal is just to make it in her first year. She has been to 5 shoots and has gained 5 yards, so she has a shot.

Once again, thanks to all for all the support. It has been a blast!!!
