How many 16 yd targets does the ata force you to shoot to be eligible for hcap reduction.

Why do you have to shoot 16 yard for a reduction?

Remember who makes up the rules. The same people that don't have a "PRO" class because its the ATA. The same group that reduced the yardage to 18yds. The same group that needed to move to Sparta. Why do they do these things. Because they can!

Your 16 yd scores have no bearing on handicap yArdages or review.

I couldn't find this rule in the book, maybe I missed it,I'm not bashing the ATA ,I had 500 in 2 years and I was refused (insufficient singles shot at).

I am a long yardage shooter ,I just want to know how many I have to shoot to be eligible for a reduction.

    Does anybody know the number?

    "1000 TARGET REVIEW SYSTEM SUMMARY

    ...

    **REVIEW PROCESS**

    ...

    9. Only those shooters who have registered 500 or more singles targets in the current or previous target year will be reviewed.

    "

My advice? Ask your Delegate for a special review.

I suspect two reasons. Fees for 500 birds, and as an example of "known ability"

The amount of yardage reduction is based on your singles percentages also. 97 or so average on singles and 24 is the max line you'll be reduced to if I recall? Considering a shooter can receive three yard reductions in a target year doesn't make 500 singles sound like too much to me?

If you receive a reduction is it always a yard? Or do they give out multiple yard reductions? Or even half yard?

    John,

Reductions are typically 1 yard, based on a 1,000-target review.

The last two years the ATA has been giving out 2-yard reductions under special circumstances.

A person could also be offered a 1/2-yard reduction if the full yard could not be taken, e.g., someone on the 18.5 yard line could be given a 1/2-yard reduction to the 18.

Under the current system, utilizing the special 2-yard reductions, it's now possible to lose 5 yards in 10 months...

With the cost of sshooting today, I know several folks who are not shooting the singles events.

It appears that they may not be elegible for reductions any more ?

I believe V-10s advice of contacting one's Delegate is spot on.
